Sharing Words

There is nothing like a powerful verse to spark reflexion and generate new thought. This week I thought we could share our favorite quotes with one another. I actually found a new quote when I was looking under the category of age!! I often ponder what it means to age well and how I can be the best version of myself as I adjust to the changes that correspond with living a long life. The blessing is in being able to live long enough to see my children grow and meet their children; I will continue to work on how to do that with grace and appreciation.
Here is my quote:
To resist the frigidity of old age, one must combine the body, the mind, and the heart. And to keep these in parallel vigor one must exercise, study, and love.

  1. Eileen Says:

There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is miracle.~Albert Einstein

I consider each day a miracle especially as I enter the second half of mine. As a half centurion I am thankful I can still get around on my own and remember where I’m going and what I’m doing more than half the time. Cheers to keeping the mind and body and soul in synch with one another! Rock on sisters and brothers!

  2. Heart and Soul Says:

Eileen–what a wonderful quote, I have never read that one and I love it! See that, I am blessed by your sharing already! I think I will choose, “live as though everything is a miracle”!

  3. Singing Says:

“The only journey is the journey within.” -Rainer Maria Rilke

I have been on a journey, do not know where it will lead me, but I hope to a better me, inside and out.

    Love you all, Singing

  4. Allyson Says:

“Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.” – Arthur Ashe

I live my life this way… be proud of what you do. It is the journey that brings peace and fulfillment, not what you end up with in life. How you treat others daily and the ways that you give back are the real legacies that we leave our children!

I am posting this quote for Marge and I have to agree with her:
“Childhood should be a journey not a race” by Piaget.

I find all the chapters in Tao Te Ching by Lao-tzu comforting and fulfilling. This is one chapter I enjoy:
When people see some things as beautiful,
    other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
    other things become bad.

Being and non-being create each other.
Difficult and easy support each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low depend on each other.
Before and after follow each other.

    Therefore the Master
    acts without doing anything
    and teaches without saying anything.
    Things arise and she lets them come;
things disappear and she lets them go.
    She has but doesn’t possess,
    acts but doesn’t expect.
When her work is done, she forgets it.
That is why it lasts forever.

I have never read Tao Te Ching by Lao-tzu and find your quote very interesting. I have to remember to ask you more about it when I see you next. Thank you for sharing and also for posting for our dear Marge—we must tell her that her quote has been published!

Hope you like it. (Stephanie: I can loan you a copy of my book on it any time.)

  8. Martha Says:

“We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It’s one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it’s another to think that yours is the only path.” -Paulo Coelho

Paulo Coelho is one of my favorite writers. This is one of the quotes that I try to live up to. It is very easy to be judgemental and always think we are always right.

That which does not kill you makes you stronger!

And my boys are making me very strong!

  10. Singing Says:

As for me, all I know is that I know nothing—-Socrates

Pray for me in my time of tribulations.
My life is turmoil, troubles are many, friends I feel are few. I am alone in this journey of self. I am scared.

Sining, I am so sorry that you are facing troubles. You know that we are all there for you at Heart and Soul and I will remember you in my prayers for sure! Much love~

  11. Lina Says:

my quote comes directly from my mentor “my mother”:
“Let your head and heart be in harmony never in conflict”

While growing up, during my teenage tumultuous years, I kept that message in mind when faced with dilemmas, when making choices, when reflecting on my life’s journey…

Today, I continue to reflect back to my mother’s quote, trying to lead a harmonious and healthy life, keeping my brain, body and soul healthy and in harmony.
    Thanks
    Lina

  12. Heart and Soul Says:

Lina–the fact that you quote your mother is so moving to me. You are such a brilliant lady and your quote shows the wisdom that you have collected as well. Thank you for sharing with us and for being such a special friend of mine. Much love~ Stephanie

  13. Singing Says:

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future or anticipate troubles but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” Buddha

  14. Liz Says:

I am a bit late, but here are 2 I like!

    Louisa May Alcott:
I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship.

    Dorothy Thompson:
Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.

i often look up fear quotes… I think they can be inspiring! Have a great weekend all!
